BANK HOLIDAY SUNSHINE |
Bucknowle Farm is one of the most picturesque sites we get to camp in, certainly a personal favourite.
We had the rally field to ourselves this weekend so had room for our rally of 13 units, a large marquee (courtesy of Andy and the Boy's Brigade), various pup tents and many friends and visitors that came to see us across the weekend. We set up on a gloriously sunny, very hot day. Most folks enjoyed an alfresco dinner outside their vans in the lovely evening sunshine. We gathered in the marquee at 8pm for cheese & wine and a general catch up. Saturday begun a little overcast and when it began to spit on us during coffee I was rather worried about our plans for a penny fayre and BBQ. However, after a short shower the grey skies cleared and we set up our stalls in the field with blue sky above us. By the time visitors began to arrive the sun was shining and we all enjoyed playing games, sitting in the sunshine, drinking coffee and raising money for Macmillan Caring Locally in the process! Following a very successful penny fayre some set up the BBQs whilst others played a game of rounders in the field. We returned to Swanage Methodist Church for our Sunday service. Lovely to see Ric and Anne taking part in the service. The children all enjoyed their sunday school crafts and it was very special to all take part in a communal communion. Following the service many of us enjoyed Sunday lunch at The Red Lion Pub. Some went and enjoyed an outside showing of 'Paddington' at Corfe Castle. Jason and Derek went back for an early night having woken at 3am this morning to collect Harry and Derek jnr from church as they arrived back from their week in Switzerland with the scouts! Monday saw another day of high temperatures and blue skies. Many went off walking before packing up and heading home. |
