Bucknowle Farm, 23rd - 26th August 2019
The final camp for 2019 was held at Bucknowle Farm, Corfe Castle, over the August Bank Holiday Weekend. We were joined by four couples from St. James Church, Alderholt, friends of Martin and Sheena who have been members with us for many years. We were delighted to welcome a new member, the youngest ever, Aiden John, just four weeks old, the son of Andy and Teresa. He will certainly have to get used to camping as Teresa is our Brownie and Guide Leader and Andy a B.B. Leader.
The weekend started well with perfect weather and we were fortunate that the sun shone the whole time. Friday evening coffee and biscuits with Christine and John and Sue and Philip the stewards for the weekend, helped us to get to know our visitors from Alderholt. This was extended on Saturday afternoon when we held a 10p a go Fair which raised £61.60, plus a donation from the farmer, towards our Macmillan coffee morning on 28th September. Tea and cakes followed the Fair. Ric and Anne Fellows gave us a very warm welcome at Swanage Methodist and we were delighted to share the service with a visiting Girls Brigade Unit. A large number of us enjoyed a carvery at The New Inn, Church Knowle, where we were able to sit outside, in the shade. Yes, escaping from the sun - unheard of on many of our camps! The Beetle Drive on Sunday evening caused a lot of hilarity as some people had never played and moving right or left after each call seemed almost as difficult as landing on the moon! However, by the last game, most people had the knack. Philip gave the walkers quite a challenge on Monday morning, but they all accepted that it was well worth the climb to see our camp from the ridge. |

Bucknowle Farm Corfe Castle Wareham BH20 5PQ Take the road to Wareham and then follow the A351 (Swanage Road). Just before Corfe Castle turn right opposite Castle View Visitors Centre (brown sign post to The New Inn). After approx 1 mile you will see Bucknowle Farm on the left. Drive slowly as it would be difficult to turn round past the site. The site entrance is on the left down the farm lane and we have to cross the main camp field. |
