A week of sunshine, blue skies and messing around on the river
As I write this review the rain is falling and the wind is howling but I’m reflecting on a week of sunshine and blue skies.
Our second camp of the season saw 9 units camping at Hurley Riverside Park. The site itself sits in ten acres of picnic land right on the banks of the River Thames. Everyone enjoyed walking the paths alongside the water, watching the boats go by, spotting the wildlife and enjoying the peace and tranquillity of the area.
The week was a relaxed affair giving people plenty of time to enjoy their surroundings, getting together to enjoy catching up on each other’s days over a cuppa and various consumables! We enjoyed a BBQ on the Thursday evening and on the Friday night sampled the local fish and chip van which conveniently arrives on site each week.
A lovely walk in the sunshine from the campsite to Hurley Lock gave Jason a chance to take his kayak out on the river. We all enjoyed tea, cake and ice-creams whilst watching the boats coming and going through the lock.
The French Brothers boat trip from Maidenhead to Windsor also proved popular. Harry particularly thrilled to be asked to drive the boat.
The sun shone even as we packed up ready to come home. Everyone came away feeling relaxed and refreshed.
